The voice of "Chicken" is rough and ready and very like that of the legendary Bon Scott. Drummer Garrelt Riepelmeier and bassman "Stew" Haverkamp get everyone in the groove. The guitars from Christian Sender and Peter Koller round it all of to perfection.

The dutch online mag "Groovemaster" wrote about our live CD: |
Big Balls is a band from the Hannover, Germany, area
and their aim is to relive the AC/DC sound, that is AC/DC
with singer Bon Scott. This CD was tributed to the boozy singer.
"Thanks to Bon, we'll take it from here". And they really
do!!! This live CD is very exciting and the band come very
close to the (old) AC/DC sound. This band is very tight and
singer Chicken (!) sounds like a neurotic brother of Bon
Scott or Roger Chapman. The only funny thing are the
announcements in the German language inbetween the songs. It's
not for nothing that this band is a regular guest on many AC/DC
fanclub meetings. The CD openes with "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt
Cheap" and the sound is just as massive as the original tune. It's amazing how Chicken's voice is just as raw and drawling as Bon Scott's vocals."Shot Down In Flames" has a very fine spitting guitar solo. The highlights on this album are their version of "The Jack", a pumping, exciting raw slowblues, and "Let There Be Rock", sounding just as tight as my baby's ass and with Chicken screaming his head off. There are two own songs here. "Chains" is the best one and sounds just as exciting and raw as the AC/DC songs. It's a great scream along song. In the classic AC/DC song "Whole Lotta Rosie" Chicken looses the battle with Bon Scott. Here he aimed a bit too high. "Touch Too Much" was never played live by AC/DC and that's weird because Big Balls proves that this song is very exciting. Weird is "Loch Lomond", a Scottish folksong, complete with bagpipes. Something like a heavy metal dance tune. A very exciting live CD. Not only for the AC/DC fans. I've got one advice for you all book this band immediately!!!! |
